Cobham – San Jose is seeking an Environmental Technician tobe a part of the Facilities Group.
This position will reportdirectly to the SHE Supervisor and primary responsibilities willinclude manage the chemicals coming into the building and deploythem to various areas throughout the site; and pick up and segregatethe associated hazardous wastes generated from manufacturing andassembly processes in accordance with Federal/State/LocalRegulations and Requirements.

Responsibilities:

Managing and documenting all chemical use at the site, from thetime of delivery at shipping and receiving area, to the unpacking,labeling and recordkeeping of the ultimate disposal of chemicalwaste, keeping the site in compliance with California and Federalhazardous material and hazardous waste regulations.


• Investigating the specifics of chemicals asneeded for the users groups
• Collecting, Storing and labeling / dating thechemical wastes in accordance with CA and Federal EPA regulations
• Scheduling and preparation of shipping documentsassociated with hazardous wastes and universal wastes
• Assistance with recycling of used batteries,semi-precious metals, and sorting of some electronic waste streams
• Transport recyclables to various recyclingdestinations using a company van
• Spill clean-up and management
• Inventory and maintenance of spill clean-upequipment
• Inventory and placing orders of gas cylindersfrom our supplier used for production around the site
• Rinsing and proper disposal management of usedchemical containers
• Providing labels for all hazardous wastestreams, secondary labeling, special chemical labels and SHE signage
• Ensuring First Aid Supplies are stocked monthly,or as needed
• Conducting daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterlyinspections around the site and report any negative findings back tothe SHE Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Highly organized with strong follow-up skills totrack & manage documentation cycle times.
• Good customer service skills, working withOperations & Facilities.
• This position requires access to technology,materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws ofthe US.
Hired employees are required to provide proof of USCitizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years related work experience
• Certified in Hazardous Waste Operations andEmergency Response (as per Cal-OSHA General Industrial Safety Order# 5192)
• College coursework in Chemistry
• Ability to obtain and maintain a securityclearance
