Advanced Environmental Group, (AEG) is seeking a Field Health and Safety Technician/Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST®) to be based at our Project site office located near Needles, California. The health and safety technician will support the AEG Safety Team. This position is designed for individuals with 3-5 years of experience in the construction safety, environmental remediation and who is specifically familiar with well drilling, heavy equipment operation and large-scale remedial activity. This is a contracted position with an opportunity to be hired on full time basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Full time assignment to complete a variety of health and safety related roles in support of a major Remedy project. The CHST® will provide oversight of field crews performances during the installation of monitoring and remediation well drilling, installation, and testing; construction of remediation well-head infrastructure; underground water conveyance pipelines; above-ground water storage infrastructure; buildings and above-ground structures; grading and earthwork; construction of electrical infrastructure; and, controls/instrumentation activities. All site work will be conducted in accordance with Cal/OSHA (Construction and General Industry Safety Orders); site specific health and safety plan(s); and, AEG policies and procedures.
- 3-5 years' experience performing full time construction health and safety related tasks including: managing safety programs, processes, conducting hazard analyses and audits, and developing controls.
- Certified Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST®) or meet requirements to sit and pass exam prior to hire
- 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper training prior to hire
- Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, NFPA, & ANSI safety related regulations.
- Good Time Management Skills and Communication
- Experience using MS Office Suite products required
REQUIRED DRIVING STATEMENT
This position requires a current valid driver's license and clean driving record. Candidate will be able to operate an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and/or UTV. Position involves extended periods outdoors travelling via ATV/UTV to multiple construction site activities to observe various tasks to promote consistency between the trades and a strong behavioral based safety culture presence.

Work will be performed outdoors or on construction project jobsites subject to extreme heat and d, noise, vibrations and dust. Must have the ability to wear a respirator and adhere to all company safety requirements, where required.
Must have the ability to independently lift and carry objects safely that weigh up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold; kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis; stand, walk, talk, see (20/20 vision naturally or corrected), hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities.
Must be able to physically negotiate the hazards of a new construction worksite (e.g. uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, construction debris and poor lighting) and adhere to all company safety requirements.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Desk/office work and test area work. As necessary, must be able to travel to other work areas, be aware of safety requirements for those areas, and work within those constraints (e.g. access procedures and proper PPE). Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and t/sand is required to access various locations on the project site.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Ongoing overtime is required in support of the project schedule and is based on a 10-hour day, 5 - 6 days per week.
