The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic and be committed to creating a proactive safety culture through open communication, support, work activity planning, hazard identification and analysis and workforce training. Provide support to the projects by maintaining a visible presence in the field performing site visits every week.
Maintain safety policies to meet regulatory and client requirements.
Contribute to the protection and safety of the personnel by ensuring that employee personal protective equipment, tools and equipment, and materials, meet safety policies and standards.
Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the HS&E programs in the field.
Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance.
Provide support and resources to all site managers, supervisors, foremen and workers.
Support Foremen, Superintendents and Project Managers with reporting all safety incidents in a timely manner to MCI management team, customers and clients when applicable.
Participate and assist the Superintendents, Foreman and tradespeople in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
Communicate, coach and assist the field staff to ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met.
Coordinate a regular meeting with management team to review issues, trends and upcoming conditions or events.
Support continual development of workforce by conducting Safety Assessments (SUSA's), coaching, performance assessment and appraisal.
Other duties as required.
Occupational Health and Safety Degree, or B.C.S.P.- CHST** or OHST** Certificate or requisite experience to meet / exceed expectations.
Proficient in Microsoft office applications, completing administrative assignments even when required to be in the field.
The ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities.
