Safety Specialist, Senior Safety Specialist, or Safety Manager

CMSA will fill this vacancy at either the Safety Specialist, Senior Safety Specialist, or Safety Manager level, depending on experience and qualifications. Under the general direction of the CMSA General Manager, positions in this series will perform the full array of duties assigned to the Safety Program Management class, including developing, coordinating, and overseeing implementation of a joint comprehensive occupational safety, health, and injury management program at CMSA and the Novato Sanitary District (NSD).
Safety Specialist – Non Exempt, $7,416 - $9,015* – Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience as an industrial of field safety professional with experience in injury management and early return-to-work programs. Relevant graduate level education or recognized industry certifications may be substituted for up to two (2) years of work experience.
Senior Safety Specialist –Exempt, $8,585 - $10,436* – Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience including two (2) years of program management experience and two (2) years’ experience in injury management and early return-to-work programs. Must have proven ability to manage safety programs and provide organizational leadership. Relevant graduate level education may substitute for up to two (2) years of work experience. Passing probation is contingent upon receiving the Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or equivalent certification.
Safety Manager – Exempt, $9,938 - $12,081* – Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience including four (4) years’ experience in program management and management of injury management/early return-to-work programs. Must have proven ability to effectively manage safety programs and provide organizational leadership. Passing probation is contingent upon receiving the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification.

The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational skills and a solid working knowledge of Occupational Safety regulations and management principles. Position open until filled with the first application review date of June 1, 2018.
