The Manager of
Safety and Workers Compensation develops, implements and leads the Company's
safety initiatives including OSHA and Worker's Compensation, to create and
maintain a culture that embraces working safely while ensuring alignment,
compliance and effectiveness across all locations. Analyzes and evaluates
prospective needs for programs and services needed to position G&J Pepsi as
a premier employer of choice. The Safety and Risk Manager is a member of the
Human Resources Leadership Team and will participate in meetings throughout the
business to ensure that you represent the Safety and Workers’ Compensation
functions to the business as well as manage the hiring, mentoring, development
and performance management of the Safety and Risk function.
oversees a behavior based Safety Culture. This will be achieved by: active site
visits; analyzing safety risks; championing a behavior based safety system;
making recommendations for corrective or preventative measures; coaching
business partners on how to create a Safety Culture at their locations.
manages and administers the Occupational Safety and Health Program; works
closely with management team in formulating safety and health rules,
regulations, policies and procedures; conducts safety audits and inspections;
proactively identifies unsafe conditions and unsafe acts/behaviors and develops
appropriate responses to them.
participates in the Corporate Safety Committee and attends local safety
meetings as needed.
implements and administers written policies and procedures designed to ensure
compliance with the provisions of applicable federal state occupational safety
laws and regulations (e.g. OSHA); develops and implements drug testing procedures
as required by federal regulations.
worker's compensation team that oversees the program to include claim
management, modified duty program and taking proactive measures to limit
injuries (e.g. ergonomics assessments and related follow-up trainings).
company's injury, occupational illness, safety observation and incident
collection system; receives accident reports from locations; investigates all
occupational illnesses, injuries and accidents to identify root cause and
implement appropriate corrective actions.
compliance policy and training (e.g. safety training, accident investigation
training, substance abuse training) and provides policy oversight and
communication to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and internal
company policy; recommends policy changes to Vice-President, Human Resources.
preliminary budgetary information, employee performance reviews, required
governmental reports (e.g. OSHA, DOT) and other paperwork according to
organization is compliant with all applicable Federal/State/Local Laws.
schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of
normal schedule as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties
Bachelor's degree in Health, Environmental Health,
Safety or related field required; Master's degree in EHS or related field. Professional credentials including a
Certified Safety Profession (CSP) certification strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in risk management/occupational
safety capacity required; Minimum of 3-5 years of previous supervisory
Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access and
& Licenses: Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to operate
a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.
Requirements: Knowledge of: federal,
state, local laws that govern OSHA compliance; Ohio & Kentucky workers’
compensation experience; transportation, manufacturing or beverage industry
experience; Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel Access;
Skill in: internal customer service. Ability to: manage multiple, competing
priorities; resolve difficult situations with no clear direction; balance the
needs of the company & efforts to maintain good employee relations;
communicate effectively with internal/external customers/employees both
verbally & in writing; adapt to change; design & deliver presentations;
relate to & influence others; develop & maintain good working
relationships; problem solve; operate a computer; read & understand
financial statements, bargaining agreements, data & other reports. Other
