Construction Safety, Security, Health & Environment (SSHE) Manager
Purpose: Provides leadership and coordination of the day-to-day safety requirements. The Construction SSHE Manager reports to the Project Director and is responsible for providing project safety management oversight and a resource to field supervisors, foremen and workers in all safety, security, health and environment matters related to Health and Safety.
This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.
Essential Skills (may include but are not limited to:) • Prepare and manage site specific project SSHE plan. • Ensure a safe work environment for all project employees, sub-contractors and visitors. • Provide SSHE construction support and direction to all site personnel. • Participate and assist in the investigation of incidents to determine the cause. Complete timely reporting to appropriate parties. • Routinely monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed. • Collaborate and coordinate with client’s SSHE management team. • Communicate any significant issues or concerns with corporate for direction. • Communicate and assist workers to ensure that all safety expectations are met. • Manage client expectations and negotiate successful and positive results when issues arise. • Facilitate ongoing communications with the client and ensure responsiveness to issues/requests. • Determine training needs of craft personnel and assist them in obtaining that training. • Follow oral and written directions. • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, as needed.
Essential Qualifications • A minimum of five (5) years experience in construction safety and CHST, OHST or similar certs required. • Associate degree in Occupational Safety and Health, equivalent education and/or experience. • An understanding of Construction Safety Standards, Excavations, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, Incident Investigation, Job Hazard Analysis and documentation. • Extensive experience with Hazard Analysis and Reporting is required. • CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and/or OSHA instructor certifications are preferred • OSHA 30 hour is required. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and operation of digital cameras
